The Labrador Retriever or simply Labrador or Lab is a British breed of water dog retriever gun dog. It was developed in the United Kingdom from St. John's water dogs imported from the colony of Newfoundland, and was named after the Labrador region of that colony. It is among the most commonly kept dogs in several countries, particularly in the Western world.
Originally developed in the United Kingdom, they were bred from the St. John's water dogs of Newfoundland.
Labrador Retrievers are highly popular due to their friendly and outgoing nature. They excel in various fields such as search-and-rescue, therapy, and assistance work due to their intelligence and trainability. The breed is generally good-natured and gets along well with children and other animals, making them great family pets.
