The Lhasa Apso is a non-sporting dog breed originating in Tibet. Traditionally the breed has been used as an interior watchdog.
The Lhasa Apso was developed in the harsh climate of the Tibetan plateau, where it served as a sentinel inside monasteries.
The Lhasa Apso is known for its long flowing coat and its alert, independent temperament. Originally bred as sentinel dogs in Tibetan monasteries, they are highly loyal to their families but can be wary of strangers. Despite their small size, they make excellent watchdogs.
